Hand wash cold with a mild soap. Do not wring. Press water out between two towels instead.

Dry flat in shade. Direct sun fades a deep colour faster than anything else.

Cool iron on the reverse only, and use a low setting on satin. Never press directly onto metallic thread or embroidery — the thread flattens under heat.

Store folded, not hung. A heavy boubou left on a hanger for a season will hold the hanger's shape at the shoulder for a long time afterwards.
