The Case for a Longer Hem
Standard grading assumes a standard body. For tall wearers, a boubou that stops short changes the whole line of the garment.
Flowing garments live or die by their hem. A boubou drafted for 5'6" and worn at 6'0" does not read as a shorter boubou — it reads as a garment that does not belong to its wearer. The drape breaks at the wrong point and the eye notices before the mind does.
So our patterns are being drafted in three lengths, with additional length planned as part of the made-to-order service. Two measurements do most of the work: shoulder to floor, and the height of the shoe you intend to wear it with.
Nothing about this is complicated. It is simply attention, applied at the point where most clothing stops paying it.
